Your Sunday Connection for November 1, 2020

Your Sunday Connection for November 1, 2020

Dear Friends,

There are still spaces available to join us for Mass tomorrow Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 9:00am. A reservation is required to attend. Please click on the button below to make a reservation.

Make your reservation to attend Mass at www.standrew.org/reopening.

It is especially important that we pray this week for the collective wisdom of the people of our nation to make good judgements in our national election. Not only are we all invited to probe our conscience and vote for the candidates that best reflect the values God reveals to us, we also need the collective wisdom to accept the outcome of the election and lovingly challenge those elected to listen to the voice of God during their term of service. To aid us in this process, you are encouraged to pray this Prayer Before an Election.
The remainder of this email is the Your Sunday Connection prayer guide. Please pray with your household and draw comfort from our God who is ever near to us.
Participation in the meeting can be in person (reservation required) or virtual. Please find out more by visiting www.standrew.org/rmc

Opening Prayer

Almighty ever-living God, by whose gift we venerate in one celebration the merits of all the Saints, bestow on us, we pray, through the prayers of so many intercessors, an abundance of the reconciliation with you for which we earnestly long. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit. AMEN

The Readings

Reading 1                                        RV 7:2-4, 9-14

I, John, saw another angel come up from the East, holding the seal of the living God. He cried out in a loud voice to the four angels who were given power to damage the land and the sea, “Do not damage the land or the sea or the trees until we put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”

I heard the number of those who had been marked with the seal, one hundred and forty-four thousand marked from every tribe of the children of Israel. After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation comes from our God, who is seated on the throne, and from the Lamb.” All the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They prostrated themselves before the throne, worshiped God, and exclaimed: “Amen.  Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, honor, power, and might be to our God forever and ever.  Amen.”

Then one of the elders spoke up and said to me, “Who are these wearing white robes, and where did they come from?” I said to him, “My lord, you are the one who knows.” He said to me, “These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress; they have washed their robes and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb.”

Reading 2                                        1 JN 3:1-3

Beloved: See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure,
as he is pure.

Gospel                                             MT 5:1-12A

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.  He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

The Prayers of the Faithful

For the Church, the communion of saints, that we may grow in holiness as we grow in faithfulness to the Beatitudes.  We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For leaders of nations, that they may choose to be peacemakers, recognizing the image of God even in their enemies and encouraging the people that they lead to do the same.  We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, that they may sustain the battle for justice and goodness and not lose heart.  We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For those who mourn, that they may find comfort in the Lord through the support and compassion of family, friends, and our parish community. We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For all of us, that with God’s grace we may continually pursue the ideals expressed in the Beatitudes.  We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For  all who have been affected by COVID19, May God’s healing presence be comfort to them and bring health and well-being.      We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For all the special intentions, especially +Justine Orillaza: Birthday Blessings. We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For the departed, who remain with us in our prayers and our memories, and for the promise of a joyful reunion, and especially for: Robert Ledvina. We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

For all who are receiving First Holy Communion today, especially:  Marty Meenan, that as Jesus welcomes us to His Table, He may fill us with many blessings and spiritual gifts.    We pray to the Lord.              LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Sunday Offertory

Stewardship of Saint Andrew Parish is the responsibility of us all. Consistently throughout the year, we remind parishioners about stewarding the gifts of Time, Talent, and Treasure to support the mission of Saint Andrew Parish.
During this pandemic, there are many urgent needs, among those needs are caring for the financial obligations of Saint Andrew Parish. If you do not regularly contribute electronically ether weekly or monthly, please consider making a Sunday Offering online through Give Central through the link below.

Spiritual Communion

In many places in the world receiving Holy Communion is not possible. Catholics in these areas are encouraged to make “Spiritual Communion.” St.Teresa of Jesus wrote about this practice:

“When you do not receive communion and you do not attend Mass, you can make a spiritual communion, which is a most beneficial practice; by it the love of God will be greatly impressed on you”

You can make Spiritual Communion by the bringing this prayer to your heart…
“My Jesus, I believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though you have already come, I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.”

Closing Prayer

As we adore you, O God, who alone are holy and wonderful in all your Saints, we implore your grace, so that, coming to perfect holiness in the fullness of your love, we may pass from this pilgrim table to the banquet of your heavenly homeland. Through Christ our Lord.
