The Catholic Church has numerous devotions which faithfully augment, and sometimes preserve, a disciple’s faith in following Jesus Christ.
Particularly in times when disciples cannot participate in the liturgy of the Church, these practices are “expressions of love and fidelity that arise from the intersection of one’s own faith, culture and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
The following are a list of devotional practices and ideas that you might try with your household. In particular, we recommend fostering the faith of your household through the book, “Prayers for the Domestic Church: A Handbook for Prayers in the Home” which can be ordered online.
Some examples of devotions you can keep are:
Keeping a crucifix in your room or picture of a favorite saint.
Finding a Holy Card of your patron saint (perhaps of Confirmation Name) and saying the prayer on the card daily.
Say the Rosary.
Say the Novena to Saint Joseph
Say the Novena for Grace
Wear the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Meditate on the Seven Joys of Mary or the Seven Sorrows of Mary.
Pray the Stations of the Cross.
