Reasoning:
Based on the Chicago Department of Public Health’s recommendation, for the immediate future, individuals who are above the age of 60 or have vulnerable medical conditions should avoid large gatherings to avoid exposure to COVID-19. The purpose of the 125th Anniversary Dinner is to have an inter-generational celebration of the entire Saint Andrew community. Holding an event at time when the city government recommends individuals over the age of 60 not to attend would run contrary to purpose of the celebration. The 125th Anniversary Mass will be an activity with minimal interpersonal interaction, whereas a dinner would have significant interpersonal interaction. That is why the Mass with Cardinal Cupich will still be held but the dinner will be postponed.
Rescheduling:
At this time, there is no determination regarding other events and activities at Saint Andrew. The pastoral staff is monitoring information released from city officials and the Archdiocese of Chicago as well as considering the unique needs and circumstances of the Saint Andrew community. Any changes to parish schedules and activities will be posted through parish media.
For parishioners who have previously purchased tickets for the dinner, your tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date.
